New Decade, New Name

Dr. Nikki, Oswego Family Chiropractor

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I opened my practice.

I started my chiropractic career as an associate in Pittsford, NY, thinking I wanted to work for someone else. But I quickly realized that wasn’t where I was meant to be. So, with little knowledge of how to start a business, I began the journey of creating my own practice.

Naming it was harder than I expected. Several names I loved weren’t available, and eventually, I landed on Canalview Chiropractic—because my first location was in the Canalview Mall in Fulton.

Those early years were tough. I didn’t fully know who I was yet, which made building trust with patients harder. And trust is the heart of chiropractic care. Somewhere between years 3 and 4, I hit a breaking point. I asked myself, “Should I even be doing this?”

The Universe answered. I found the right mentors, built a network of coaches and colleagues, and did the work to discover my true potential.

The last six years haven’t been without challenges, but they’ve been incredibly rewarding. I now know, without a doubt, that this is exactly what I’m meant to do.

Between years 4 and 5, my practice outgrew its space, and we moved—this time into a place that felt truly my own. I considered a name change then but decided to wait. Over time, our practice evolved into something more than I could have imagined: a community… and then, a family.

As we approached our 10-year anniversary, I kept coming back to the name Lighthouse. Yes, our view of the Oswego Lighthouse is beautiful, but the name meant more to me than just location. I wanted it to represent the guidance, warmth, and hope we strive to offer every patient.

And so, Canalview Chiropractic is now Light House Family Chiropractic, the bright spot in your day, week, or month. A place where light guides you on your path to better health, and where the atmosphere truly feels like home.

I want to thank every single patient who has walked through my doors. Many would say I’ve helped them, but the truth is, you’ve helped me, too. My practice has been a safe space for me on the hard days, and the connections I’ve made here mean everything. You’ve become part of my extended family, and I look forward to seeing you every week.

Here’s to many more decades of adjustments that turn into long conversations… and conversations that make my watch buzz because I just can’t stop talking (iykyk). And here’s to more patients who become like family.
